Season is almost upon us!!!

The ACHS football and swim teams just finished working at the Adams County Fair this year. We worked a funnel cake and lemoneade booth. Our boys and girls worked hard, had fun and represented our school with pride. It's great to see these groups of young adults work under the pressure of long lines and customer demands. If they can handle that crazyness they can handle anything together. Thanks goes out to Sugars concessions stands for hiring us to work with them for a 3rd year. I also would like to thank my coaches who helped out, Coach Sisneros who helped organize and supervise and Coach Pedregon and wife who both spent two nights and a day working.

The football team also participated in a contact camp at Black Hills State University in June. I'll write more about the camp experience when I get the pictures to upload.

Our season begins on Monday Aug 13th and our first game will be Saturday Aug 25th at Westminster.

Manager goes Nuts

One of the few things that baseball has better than football is the Manager ejection. Head Coaches get away with alot sometimes with the way they yell at referee's. Baseball Managers get tossed from the game. Then the fun begins. Check out what this Braves Minor league Manager did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUcFWPgB8oY

Mid Week Report

We suffered another small set back with the weather yesterday, a huge rain storm forced us to stay indoors. However the team came back strong today with a great turnout and a great practice. The players continued to learn our offense and we competed on some 1 on 1 endzone passing drills. Several great plays were made by our QB's and on defense we saw a few nice interceptions. We ended practice with some 7 on 7. It began with two 30 yard TD passes by Ever. The defense then woke up and shut the offense down with a few picks and passes defended.

The big news for the day is that we are preparing to attend camp in South Dakota in mid June. Today we gave the players their paperwork to fill out and start bringing in the money for camp. Camp dates will be June 17th to the 20th. Our staff and players are very excited about this opportunity and trip. It will be Adams City's first out of state contact football camp. We are all excited about starting a new tradition at ACHS.

Hopefully the weather continues to hold up and I can report back this weekend after our Friday Scrimage.

Go Eagles!

Football Team aids alumni

Here is a cool story about a college football team that went to help an alumni clean up after a tornado hit his home. It's always good to see some athletes get positive press instead of the negative things on ESPN everyday.

Week 1 wrap up

Week 1 of our spring camp ended on a much better note. After battling the weather for 2 days we were able to get two real good practices in on Thurs and Fri. Thursday we began putting in our passing offense and defense. Friday, we concluded the week with a 7 on 7 flag football game. We split the players into two teams, one with Coach Ortega and one with Coach Pedregon. I served as the worlds worst sideline official, at least according to the team that lost. The game was exciting, it began with each team scoring until Team Pedregon began to dominate on defense. This incomming week we hope to have better weather and we look foward to a full 4 days of practice.

Spring Update

So far spring practice hasn't been as smooth as hoped for. We had a great start on Monday with over 25 players present. However the next two days have been rainouts. Hopefully the weather will improve next week and I'll have some better stories and some pictures to share. Till then Go Eagles.

Spring Football Camp

The dates have been selected for our 2007 spring football camp.

Camp will start on Monday, May 21 and run through Friday, June 1st. We will practice from 2:30 to 4:30. Anyone interested in comming and watching practice or even participating just let me know.

Spring ball is usually not as exciting to watch as fall for the simple fact that we are not allowed to wear pads. The push to change that rule is currently going through CHASSA but was denied this year. We will work on fundamentals and footwork with all positions as well as begin the instalation of our Offense and Defense for the 2007 season. If you have any students who are interested in playing have them come see me in E 106, no experience necessary.

I will try to update on our practices as we progress through the comming weeks.
